President's
Message |
Dear Fellow Congregants,
I feel a special pride as we prepare to celebrate the 60th birthday of Israel as I sure many (and hopefully) all of you are feeling at this very special in the lives of the Jewish people. We at Congregation Ner Tamid have experienced many years of wandering prior to settling in our wonderful Temple on the hill. Having a permanent home both here in New Jersey and in Israel creates a connection to our local Jewish families and friends and to those around the world. I have been blessed to have been born in the same year that Israel was “born”. We will be marching along with all the local congregations in the area on June 1st to show our solidarity and support and yes, love for Israel. On June 8th we will be holding our annual meeting and Rabbi’s brunch at the synagogue; this is a wonderful annual event and I urge you all to attend. More of you have been attending services and helping us to make a minyon which has been wonderful. However, there are many of you that I have not seen for too long and I miss the camaraderie of seeing you at services and events. I am well aware that there are many commitments and obligations that we all have that draw our time and attention away from our spiritual needs. I urge you to set aside time, carve out space in your schedule to nurture your Jewish soul. There is nothing that fills that place deep with-in all of us that “qvells” when we raise our voices in song during services. May we along with Israel and all Jews around the world celebrate as we go from strength to strength.
---Shalom, Tema Steele

Small Enough to Know You. Big Enough to Serve You.
Congregation Ner Tamid is a Conservative-Egalitarian Synagogue.
Established in 1991 by an active core group of strong, committed
families and individuals, our membership numbers approximately 50
families.
Our
name, “Ner Tamid” means
“Eternal Light” and that
has served as our beacon for over 10 years in a succession of temporary
locations where we worshipped together each Shabbat and on holidays.
Now we are proud to have our own permanent home in Cherry Hill where
we welcome all to join us.
Rabbi
Rabbi Paul Bender
We’re
very fortunate to have Rabbi Bender as our spiritual leader. He
is well known throughout the community for his excellent voice
that enhances our services. And he is a constant source of inspiration
and strength to all of us.
